Competitive Play
Shockers Baseball MoCo teams push themselves in practice, games and tournaments to compete relentlessly. Teams have a growth mindset with the goal of getting 1% better everyday.
In the Spring, players are required to register for play in Montgomery County Little League in order to play on the Shockers. Fall participation in MCLL is not required.
Players typically "play up" in MCLL and are often on teams with other players from their Shockers team or other Shockers aged teams, but the full Shockers team is not entered into MCLL as a complete team. MCLL is one of the most competitive recreational baseball leagues in the MD/VA/DC area and Shockers players continue to be pushed and challenged in those games.
Additionally, by playing in MCLL, players have the opportunity to compete on the Little League summer tournament all-star teams at the District, State, Regional and World Series level. MCLL has won numerous District and State Championships in recent years, in large part because of participation from players on the Shockers.
Participation in Little League gives the kids a unique experience in their youth baseball journey by playing both travel and Little League and has been extremely rewarding for those players who played both.
The Spring and Fall cost varies by team, but is generally around $700-$850 per player per season depending on if the team has a paid coach or parent coach and the number of tournaments they participate in. 7u & 8u costs tend to be less.
Initial 'start-up costs' for uniforms, hats, helmet, backpack, etc is $330
The cost is less at 7u, 8u & 9u as players don't purchase all of the items their first year.
Winter workouts are generally $350-$450 per player depending on if the team has a paid coach or parent coach. 7u is $250-$300 because they only practice once per week.

10u & up - 4-6 tournaments in the fall & doubleheaders on non-tournament weekends.
